Introduce your kids to a sport they can enjoy right away - and for the rest of their lives. Sailing is fun. Sailing is social. It builds physical strength and mental acuity. It builds reliance on oneself, encourages respect for the environment and offers the rewards that come from challenge and competition. These classes are taught at Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club on Lake Washington. Classes are open to all youths 8 to 18 years old. No swimming test will be given, however the student must feel comfortable in open water and capsizing the boat and righting it. Membership in Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club is NOT required. Beginning classes focus on the fundamentals of sailing, basic dinghy handling, and safety. Intermediate and advanced classes expand boat handling techniques and introduce racing. Classes are taught by instructors certified by the United States Sailing Association who are trained in water safety and first aid.
Meet promptly at 9:00 AM every day at the MBYC Clubhouse Entrance, located at 9927 Meydenbauer Way SE. The sailing dinghies are located on the plastic floating dock at the end of Dock 3; the moorage pier on the right if you’re looking at the marina from the parking lot toward the water.
Students will need to bring the following items and PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING:
